Sefton Council workers defeat Pennywise the clown

Quick-thinking highway maintenance workers have guaranteed that residents of Botanic Road in Southport can sleep soundly tonight by blocking off drains with tarmac.

We understand that foreman Geoff Rimmer hatched the cunning plan after a trip to the cinema last Saturday night – and that the drain blocking scheme will be rolled out across the region immediately.

Unfortunately, however, Sefton Council have already confirmed that they will be adding a £50 ‘killer clown prevention’ surcharge to council tax bills from next year.
