Contrary to earlier reports, which suggested that Southport’s Christmas lights were out because of vandalism, we understand that an, as yet undiscovered, faulty bulb is actually the culprit.
Town Councillor, Geoff Rimmer, told us that engineers were working “around the clock” to get the issue resolved.
Apparently, the work requires a team of engineers to take out and put back in the bulbs from around sixteen running miles of fairy lights one by one until the whole lot come back on.
“Although this is quite a time consuming exercise.” Councillor Rimmer explained. “We would like to reassure everyone that the lights should be back on by January 17th at the very latest.”
